Estes Shane Whalen was raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Vanderbilt University and moved to Los Angeles in 1998 to start Next Generation, an independent film production company based in Venice. In 2002, Estes recorded his debut album 'If Timing Is Everything' with producer Michael James (New Radicals, Hole, L7).
