William Cheney financed his first two films by running a real estate firm. He was related to James Cagney on his mother's side and distantly related to Vice President Dick Cheney on his father's. William was also in Star Trek New Voyages: Phase II (2004) but asked not to be credited for the role, as it was a fan film.
