Locals confused and angry that the first Pirates film had not filmed in Dominica,were angry at government officials. This heated outburst dragged on for months. Then in an attempt to settle it once and for all, Powys Dewhurst interviewed the Pirates location scout in Puerto Rico, who maintained that it wasn't the fault of the government at all, but that Dominica just wasn't exactly suitable and St. Vincent was. Dominican-born Powys Dewhurst wrote a front page feature article for the local Chronicle newspaper in 2003 on the issue which put the controversy to bed once and for all. 2003. In Canada, Powys Dewhurst brought it to the attention of stakeholders that a sequel was about to be written in late 2003 and that the fledgling film commission should act to secure the locations, which through a team effort Dominica did. Powys then wrote another article in the local paper and pushed hard for Pirates 2 to film in Dominica. In May 2005 Pirates of the Caribbean filmed in Dominica bring much needed revenue to a struggling local economy. Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest raked in over US 1 billion dollars worldwide-It is one of the biggest films in history.
