Neil grew up in rural north Scotland and was formally trained at the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Before moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting and producing full-time, he studied law at the University of Edinburgh and qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales.
