Elena Semikina was born in 1984 in Saint Petersburg, USSR and moved to Toronto, Canada in 2004. She has a younger brother, Leonid Semikin. Semikina attended York University in Toronto, where she studied Marketing and Finance. In 2010, she was crowned Miss Universe Canada and represented Canada at the Miss Universe competition in Las Vegas, Nevada.
