Joel Kindrick was born in San Pablo, California and raised in Auburn, California. He majored in communication with an emphasis in acting at Pacific Union College in California. At his alma mater, he co-created the Dramatic Arts Society--a student-run organization that continues to this day and taught dramatic arts for one year.
