John DeVries was born on July 17, 1987 in the city of East London in South Africa. Fleeing from a targeted political attack, his family immigrated to the USA where he grew up. In 2001 he returned to South Africa and is now based in Cape Town. He is an award winning director, writer and cinematographer and co-owner of TH Films.
