Born 1956. Grew up in Hong Kong during the 1970s. Became interested in makeup after seeing Bride of Frankenstein (1935) starring Boris Karloff. In Hong Kong, became friends with Karloff's widow Evelyn, who encouraged him to pursue makeup. Corresponded with John Chambers, makeup designer for Planet of the Apes (1968) from 1975 to 1977.
