City inhabited by mostly Armenian families having fled the Soviet Union, Bandar Anzali used to be called the Pahlavi Port, the gateway to Europe. Today, 25 years after the revolution,there is no economic or industrial activity. Unemployed workers, retired captains,old men,but also unemployed youth who do not want to take over the traditional ways of their parents
